Adindu Victor, known by his stage name AV or Babyboy AV, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He gained recognition in 2021 for his hit single “Big Thug Boys“, which topped at number five on Billboard Triller Chart.
Before Fame
Born on March 14, 1999, in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, Adindu Victor hails from a family deeply rooted in musical and entertainment traditions. His father, a seasoned musician and guitarist, hails from Delta state while his mother is from Edo state. He was raised in a mixed environment in benin city. He had his tertiary education at Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, where he obtained his first degree.
Music Career
AV’s passion for music started from his young age, and was motivated by his musician father who was also a guitarist. He made his professional start in the music business in 2018 but it was the 2019 Felabration festival that truly ignited his spark. Performing on the same stage dedicated to celebrating the legacy of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, provided AV with the opportunity to present his music to a diverse and appreciative audience, further solidifying his presence in the Nigerian music landscape. He made his debut in 2020 with the song “Temperature,” which got some attention but didn’t quite make the big splash.
The song that changed everything
The turning point in AV’s career came in 2021 with the release of his official song, “Big Thug Boys,” accompanied by a music video. The song was an instant sensation, dominating TikTok, Instagram, and playlists everywhere. It wasn’t just catchy, it had swagger, energy, and a hook that stayed in your head for days.
The success of Big Thug Boys shot AV into the spotlight. The track peaked at number five on the Billboard Triller Chart, and its music video quickly racked up millions of views. Just like that, AV was no longer just another aspiring artist, he was a certified star.
He followed up with another single “Confession,” a track that cemented his status as more than just a viral act. Then came his 2022 EP, Thug Love, packed with tracks like No Dey Form and B&B (Booze & Bumbum)- songs that showed his versatility and storytelling ability. He was nominated for the category of Rookie of the year at the Headies Award in 2022.
As his music continued to gain traction, so did his reach. Also In 2022, he performed at the Afro Beach Festival in Ghana, sharing the stage with artists like Costa Titch and Kofi Kinaata.
