The Nigerian film industry (Nollywood), with its highly skilled performers and filmmakers, has consistently produced high-grossing films that keep you glued to your screen.
Most of your favourite Nollywood stars have something in store for you in December 2024. Viewers’ interest has been heightened by the trailers that have been circulating online. These are some of the best Nollywood films to look forward to in December.
EVERYBODY LOVES JENIFA
Funke Akindele, one of Nigeria’s most popular actress and producer is scheduled to have her film released in theatres on December 13, 2024. She is well-known for her leading role in her film “Jenifa’s Diary,” which has been on since 2013. She is also the only female Nigerian producer to create the top three biggest grossing films, including Battle on Buka Street, Omo Ghetto: The Saga, and A Tribe Called Judah.
As at December 2023, she released her highest grossing movie a tribe called Judah, which really made waves all around the globe. This time she plans to release another fantastic movie.
The offical movie trailer has been on the internet, featuring actors Falz, nancy isime, patience ozorkwor, bisola, lateef Adedimeji, layi wasabi, and many more. Funke Akindele hasn’t stopped providing us with highlights and incredible content about the film as we wait for its official release. One thing is certain, though: she doesn’t play around with her films’ publicity.
ALAKADA! BAD AND BOUJEE
Another film to put on your December waiting list. On December 20, 2024, a film directed by none other than Toyin Abraham will be released in theatres.
The remarkable actress, who starred in films such as ELEVATOR BABY, HOUSE OF GA’A, and ANIKULAPO, has also received praise for releasing top Nollywood films. Along with a tribe named Judah by funke Akindele, her film “Malaika” also rocked the internet as of December last year. According to rumours, the two actresses have been neck and neck to dominate each other, but this hasn’t stopped their spark in the industry.
THIN LINE
The Real Mercy Aigbe movie titled “Thin Line” would also be dropping in Theatres on 13th of December 2024. Truly it’s gonna be a december to remember.
Mercy Aigbe has also been providing us with high-quality content for her upcoming film, which stars Yvveone Jegede, Uzor Arukwue, and other well-known actors. She also released her film Ada Omo Daddy last year. Despite some social media handlers’ criticism that the film was dull, it still gained millions of views, so this time around, we can be sure to witness something much better.
CHRISTMAS IN LAGOS
What would December be without a Naija-inspired Christmas movie? On December 20th, The Jade Osiberu film Christmas in Lagos will be available on Amazon Prime. The well-known film “Gang of Lagos” director Jade Osiberu is bringing Christmas back to Lagos, this time with actors and artists from Nigeria, including Ayra Starr, Adekule Gold, RMD, Shaffy Bello, Wole Ojo, and many more.
This movie is going to be a huge hit. If you watched Gang of Lagos and saw how Lagos State’s art was showcased, you would know that this is a must-watch.
