The ongoing dispute between Nigerian comedian Deeone, social media critic Martins Otse (known as VeryDarkMan or VDM), and media personality Nedu Wazobia has escalated into series of heated exchanges, with allegations of homosexuality, accusations of sexual misconduct, and debates over moral accountability.
The whole issue started when Deeone appeared on “The Honest Bunch” podcast, hosted by Nedu Wazobia. During the episode, Deeone alleged that VeryDarkMan was engaged in homosexual activities and only attracted to men. This claim went viral in a flash and sparked widespread reactions all over social media platforms.
In response to these allegations, VDM denied any involvement in homosexual activities and then shifted focus toward Nedu Wazobia. He accused Nedu of orchestrating the defamatory remarks made by Deeone, stating that Nedu has gathered selfish intentions due to his previous refusals to appear on his podcast. VDM accused Nedu of persistently requesting his appearance on the podcast since 2024 and allegedly offering to buy him a car as an incentive to feature on The Honest Bunch.
VDM interpreted these proposals as attempts by Nedu to exploit his online influence for personal gain.
The situation escalated when VDM threatened to expose Nedu’s alleged involvement in some dirty conducts, including sex-for-roles arrangements within the entertainment industry. VDM claimed to possess evidence of Nedu soliciting sexual favors from female content creators in exchange for fame and opportunities. He also criticized the integrity of The Honest Bunch podcast, alleging that its content was more focused on getting views and financial gain rather than genuine discourse on relevant societal issues.
Amid mounting pressure and public backlash, Nedu Wazobia announced his resignation from The Honest Bunch podcast on 14th February 2025. This decision was perceived by many as a direct consequence of the allegations and the ensuing controversy. Nedu’s decision to leave the podcast showed the harsh reality that when personal feuds play out in public, they can have serious consequences on your career
After Nedu’s exit from the podcast, Deeone In a recent interview on TVC’s Breakfast Show, revealed that he strategically planned his participation in the podcast without Nedu’s knowledge to set a trap for VeryDarkMan. He stated that he had been studying VeryDarkMan for months and wanted to test his authenticity. These were his words during the interview:
I planned the whole thing alone, but Nedu did not know, because If I had said it on social media, they would accuse me of trying to make money, but I needed a platform. I had been studying VeryDarkMan for months; and I wanted to know if he was real or just using Nigerians. Some things he gets right, but most times, he jumps to conclusions and manipulates everyone.
Deeone
Deeone expressed regret over Nedu’s subsequent exit from the show, stating that he didn’t intend for that to happen.
The drama is still far from over. Meanwhile, it’s rumored that VDM has requested to appear on TVC to defend himself. Both sides are sticking to their stories, and we can expect more surprises as new info comes out and the parties involved decide whether to open up or lawyer up.
