There’s been lots of amazing afrobeats videos shot by variety of videographers ranging from foreign to Nigerian videographers. It is one thing to listen to a song and love it, and it is another to watch the music video and correlate it with the theme of the song. Alot of music videographers do not get enough accolades for the the justice and work they put in to make a music video exclusive and relatable, with story lines and clear visuals. But for today, we would be looking just at some amazing afrobeats music videos;
1. Rema ft Shallipopi (Benin boys): A collaboration that many waited to witness after pictures of both of them in the studio surfaced online. Rema and Shallipopi finally dropped a single alongside a video. Benin boys is all about bragging rights, when Shallipopi said in the video “touch Benin boy, you don touch full nation”. Both artists brought in their unique sound to put benin city on the map while sending regards to their fellow Benin brothers. This video was of course shot in benin city in correlation to the lyrics and title of the song. The video basically, was to showcase how well to do Benin city and especially the young boys living in it, are. This video has amassed a total of 13M views since it’s release.

2. Asake ft Central cee ( Wave): The music video was shot in Lagos as we see Central cee touring with Asake. The song is titled “wave” because Asake believes he’s on a different level in the game at this point. Being able to pull a foreign artist as big as Central cee is no small feat. The video basically, was just him on relaxation mode and what he called “flex and chill”. He was seen in various relaxation spots; a resort where they had snooker board, boat cruise, etc. The video has amassed a total of 19M views on YouTube.

3. Omah lay (moving): The Soso crooner released his second single of the year, MOVING. The video was shot in what looked like a desert with so many lost people living in it. The video was trying to portray strength and ability to move on no matter how many times you break down on the road (literally and figuratively). Omah lay has always been an artist that story tells with his music video and this was no exception. Moving on from depression, he decides to have fun and move on with life. This video has amassed a total of 6.4M views in 2 months.

4. Burna boy (higher): His self directed video was more like a film because this time, it wasn’t about relaxation or showcasing luxury but about showing love and care to his people, the people of port Harcourt. He visited the university of port Harcourt teaching hospital (UPTH), gave them cash, donated wheel chairs, etc…. also visited primary schools, shared foodstuffs and so on. This video correlates with the theme of the song as it’s an opportunity for him to go higher by extending to so much people as he can, especially his own people. This video has amassed a total of 7.6M views since it’s release 5months ago.

5. Davido ft YG Marley (Awuke): His first single of the year and Davido decides to give us something beautiful. Not to be surprised, we all know when it comes to Davido, music and video making, it always correlates with the theme of beauty. I mean, there were a lot of beautiful looking young ladies in the video, because basically, that’s what the theme of the song is centered on. This video has amassed a total of 2.3M views on YouTube since it’s release 2months ago.

6. Brown Joel, Hyce and Boypee ft Davido (Ogechi Remix): A cultural display of beautiful maidens, the king’s sons decide to pick a beautiful one for marriage. With beautiful attires, story telling and soothing vocals, the trio have had their fans especially the females on hold. In this video also, Davido pays homage to his lovely wife, Chioma. Showcasing the Igbo tradition of selecting maidens for marriage, the music video has amassed 25M views on YouTube.

7. Victony (Risk): After going viral on tiktok after it’s release, Victony decided to release a video for the song off his STUBBORN album. Mentioning how the backside of a lady is risky and could make him go blind as well as get him involved in trouble, the blue warmth light around the room gave it a beautiful feel as Victony continued to observe and caress the young lady vixen. This video has amassed a total of 3.1M views on YouTube and still counting.

8. Kizz Daniel ft Davido (Twe Twe Remix): After the release of the original hit song earlier this year, Kizz Daniel decided to feature Davido on the remix and create a magical colourful music video. Twe Twe being the abbreviation of the work Twerk, shows how much beautiful ladies can shake their backside and how crazy it can make a man go. This music video was released 9months ago and has now amassed a total of 22M views on YouTube.

Without much vixens, she describes and explains the energy guiding her, her hatred for bad energy and how she intends to live her life without getting validation from outsiders. It is evident that Ayra has come to stay, Commas video now has a total of 80M views in just 9months of it’s release.

10. Wizkid ft Brent Faiyaz (Piece of my heart): This music video appeals so much to the soul. In the video, Wizkid and Faiyaz talk about how it’s not easy to let go of the Love of their lives, as she’s got a piece of their heart. Apparently, the song is for those lovers who need to reassure their partners of how much they love them. The video has so many soothing scenes, with beautiful video vixens as well.
