ThankGod Omori Jesam, professionally known as TG Omori or Boy Director, is a prominent Nigerian music video director and cinematographer celebrated for his innovative contributions to the Nigerian music industry.
Born on June 8, 1995, in Lagos, Nigeria, TG Omori hails from Cross River State. He was raised in the Agungi area of Lagos in a middle-class family. At the age of 15, he was already directing stage productions at his church and school, demonstrating his early affinity for directing and video production. Pursuing this passion, he graduated from the PEFTI Film Institute at 20, becoming one of Nigeria’s youngest professional filmmakers.
TG Omori’s career in music video directing began around 2018, and he quickly gained recognition for his distinctive visual style and storytelling. He has directed music videos for numerous top Nigerian artists, including Olamide, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Naira Marley. His work is known for its creativity, high production quality, and ability to capture the essence of the music and artist.
Throughout his career, TG Omori has received several awards and recognition, which include:
2019: Won Best Music Video Director of the Year at the City People Entertainment Awards.
2020: Secured the Best Music Video Director of the Year at the AFRIMMA Awards.
2021: Nominated for Best Music Video at The Headies for directing “Billionaire” by Teni.
2022: Won Best Music Video Director of the Year at The Headies for “Champion” by Fireboy DML.
2023: Nominated for the Prize for Film at The Future Awards Africa.
As at 2024, TG Omori faced significant health challenges, including a battle with kidney failure. Despite undergoing a kidney transplant with his brother as the donor, the procedure was unsuccessful. Undeterred, TG Omori has expressed optimism about his recovery, announcing plans through his X handle to make a full return to his career in 2025.
